SoulSync — Cookies Policy

Last Updated: August 4, 2026

This Cookies Policy explains how SoulSync uses cookies and similar local storage technologies (local storage, session storage, and web beacons) on our website and web applications. This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Data Deletion Policy.

1. What Are Cookies & Local Storage?

Cookies and local storage objects are small files or key-value entries stored in your web browser. They allow SoulSync to recognize your device, remember your preferences (such as light/dark mode and custom navbar order), maintain secure authentication sessions, and improve platform performance.

  • Session Cookies: Temporarily stored on your device and deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent Local Storage: Stored in your browser to preserve your client-side preferences (such as theme and navbar order).
  • First-Party Technologies: Set directly by SoulSync.
  • Third-Party Technologies: Set by our verified service partners (such as Supabase Auth).

2. Categories of Storage We Use

2.1 Strictly Necessary Storage

These storage items are required for the security, stability, and basic operation of our platform. They cannot be disabled.

  • sb-[project-id]-auth-token: Set by Supabase Auth to maintain your secure signed-in session.
  • XSRF-TOKEN: Used to prevent cross-site request forgery attacks and secure form submissions.
  • privacy_consent: Remembers your preferences regarding cookie consents.

2.2 Functional & Preference Storage

These local storage items remember your preferences to personalize your experience.

  • theme: Remembers your display theme preference (Light, Dark, or System mode).
  • liteMode: Remembers if you enabled low-bandwidth lite mode for media playback.
  • navbar_order: Remembers your customized priority ordering of navigation bar icons set in Profile Settings -> Preferences.
  • selected_church_id: Remembers the active ChMS church tenant you are managing.

2.3 Performance & Video Analytics

  • analytics_session_key: Used client-side to group Synctok video playback heartbeats for creator watch-time analytics.
  • strict_no_ad_trackers: We have an absolute policy against selling user data or using third-party behavioral cross-site ad trackers.

3. Controlling Your Cookies & Local Storage

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can change your browser settings to reject or delete cookies:

  • Browser Controls: You can adjust cookie and site storage controls in Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Brave settings.
  • Clearing Storage: You can clear browser local storage at any time to reset your custom navbar order and display theme.
  • Impact of Disabling: If you reject or disable strictly necessary session cookies, you will not be able to sign in or access profile settings.

4. Updates to This Cookies Policy

We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in our technology or privacy rules. We will notify you of any major updates by revising the date at the top of this page.
